Yo.

I am, by training, a biologist, a chemist and a scientist in general. With a minor in Japanese Language. I am 22 years old and I have never taken an art class in my entire life, beyond basic (very basic) curricula in Middle and High school. I am of the generation of budget cuts, wherein Art & Music are the first things to go. A very sad state of affairs, as I can rightly attest. Everything I have learned about art, drawing, painting and writing, I have taught myself or read in books.

However! I am now a graduate student, working on my Masters degree, and as such I can finally DO WHAT I WANT!
Yep, I'm taking classes at my local community college in my spare time, and with my small amount of spare money, so that I can actually learn about art and its techniques. I am very excited at this prospect, which is why I'm writing a journal entry about it.

Twenty-two years of being a realist, a person who works towards doing something prosperous and dignified, and I'm thrilled to be able to take ART100.

Better late then never, as they say.
